Let’s take it back!
Today millions can have their Christ-less Christmas and not miss a Christmas carol beat! As millions of immigrants from Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist and other non-Christian cultures have made America their home; they see our holiday but DO NOT see the Christmas Story nor its salvation message. I want to suggest something to you. Rather than quit on Christmas, let’s take it back! Let’s use it as an open door for witnessing to the saving Grace of God in Christ. How do you do this? I suggest three action steps for Christ-followers this Christmas season:
1. Stand up
It is our celebration, so stand up for it. Do not let anyone belittle our Christ on His birthday. In love, we can stand up for our beliefs without apology.
2. Show up
As you are out in the public these next few weeks before Christmas day, determine in your heart to “show up” for Jesus. When given the opportunity say “Merry Christmas! “to all who greet you. Even better say, “Jesus loves you on his birthday,” or “Have a Christ-filled Christmas.” These greetings are your little battles won to show up and stand up for Christ and our faith in Him.
3. Speak up
Finally I urge you to speak up. Why, Because God is going to honor your witness to His beloved Son. Your simple “Merry Christmas” is a witness and conversation opener in this secular America. The Holy Spirit will send someone to you who needs a word of Grace this Christmas. The best gift you can give them is Jesus Himself! That would be the best gift you can give yourself!
