Attached is a video from a church service in Rwanda where I preached this past Sunday. The music was pure joy and celebration. Two and a half hours of it! There was jumping, dancing, shouting and some very heart-felt serious worship. As a white man observing it made me think how “church” can be so different in cultures, yet all worship the same Savior, but in our own style.
My first observation is that all participate in the African church, unlike in America where most folks in the rows of benches do not sing, jump or dance. We don’t even wiggle or twitch. For the most part we are merely spectators. The professionals from the stage perform for us, sing for us, and we just observe.
So, watch the video, laugh if you will, but you and I could use some of that enthusiasm before the throne of The Lord! I am getting too old to jump very high, but I can clap and sing praises to my King whom I love serve and adore!
